Position Description
ServeNext Organizers are tasked with two main goals:
1. Build a local ServeNext Network of service stakeholders and supporters. To achieve this goal ServeNext Organizers:
- Recruit and manage a Leadership Council of 5-10 members and a local ServeNext Network of 25-50 members.
- Hold one-on-one and group meetings with potential partners such as local service organizations.
- Recruit Network members through participation in local service projects.
- Organize ServeNext events and meetings.
2. Mobilize the local ServeNext Network to engage members of Congress and other key decision makers. To achieve this goal ServeNext Organizers:
- Attend town hall meetings and other events to promote the impact and value of service in the local community.
- Schedule local meetings with members of Congress and/or their staff.
- Schedule site visits to local service organizations with members of Congress and/or their staff.
Ideal Candidates will possess the following Characteristics
- Adaptability – Able to adapt to changing conditions and incorporate new ideas.
- Accountability – Accepts accountability for achieving program goals.
- Communication – Has the ability to communicate well with individuals and groups, including members of Congress and other local leaders.
- Organization – Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, delegate, and mange time efficiently.
- Self-Motivated – Proactive and able to complete task with minimal supervision.
- Relentless – Is persistent in pursuit of program goals.
Program Requirements
- Applicants must possess a strong background in the service field OR a genuine passion for the role service can play in addressing social challenges and improving our democracy.
- Community organizing and/or policy advocacy experience is a plus.
- Applicants must plan to live in their current area of residence for the foreseeable future.
- Applicants must be available to attend both training retreats in Washington D.C. on March 11th -13th and in September (dates TBD).
- If selected, applicants are expected to commit on average about 10 hours per week for the duration of the 12-month program.
- ServeNext Organizers are expected to have regular individual and group check-ins with the Field Director and report on key metrics every Sunday.
- ServeNext Organizers may be asked to participate in fundraising activities.
